Every spring I look all over for lilac to purchase and living here in Encinitas they are hard to find. Last night I was walking thru Home Depot picking up some items for our school's campus beautification project and I smelled the most amazing smell, it reminded me of summer nights in Maine. . . yup it was the yummy smell of lilacs. I was so excited I started yelling and getting all excited, they only had 2 bunches and they were not cheap but I bought them anyways. This morning when I woke up my house had the best smell radiating through it. OHHH if only I could grow them here.

Championships in Atlanta
I just got back from the world robotics competition in Atlanta, GA it was very exciting and very tiring! I took my camera and computer and figured I would blog every day well I for got the most important thing. . .my memory card reader. So here are some pictures:
Wyatt and a few of the many, many new mascot friends he made this weekend. That is the tallest frog I have ever seen.

My poor baby was so hot and with that bruise eye Cameron one of the seniors told him he looked like he was in an Ultimate Fight match and lost. He was so wet the picture does not do the wetness or smell justice.

Happy Monday
I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of pouring down rain and howling winds. So I was preparing for the fact that I will have my class inside all day. When my alarm woke me up at 5:30 am it was still nasty outside, a great change. Now as I am posting this the sun has come out and it is drying up.
This blog that I love to check out has a monthly photo one word challenge and this month the word is hold. . .and I thought this butterfly on the flower fit that word perfectly.

A little tangerine
This morning I got the whim to paint a little bright cheery orange in my kitchen (inspired by the orange wall at La especial Norte). The color is called New Tangerines, I love the color and my cups look so cute hanging on it.
I even found the super cute knobs for the cabinets, they are orange with the little mother of pearl flower inlays. Love them!

Happy 15th Birthday
So Wyatt's birthday started out like any other day, he came to my school to visit and have birthday donuts with the kids in my class, I offered to take him home while they were at recess but he said no he wanted to get home and hang with his friends. At 10:20 am he calls me and says he fell from his skateboard and hit his head pretty hard and needed me to come home. I was not prepared for what I saw. He was on the couch with a frozen bag of pearl onions covering his eye. It was really swollen and looked awful. I decided he needed to go to the ER and just get it checked out. Yes he was wearing his helmet and when his giant 5'11" body fell if forced the helmet up hitting the bone above the eye socket.
We were told he had a concussion and if he continued throwing up to take him to Children's Hospital in San Diego. We did not do a CAT scan because he had no blood behind or in his eye and I am not a fan of unnecessary scans etc.
Get ready here it is:
He is feeling better after a 2 hour nap (yes a nap the doctor said it was a myth ) and Motrin. Of course what you can't tell is how far out that eye is sticking, it looks like he has a golf ball under that lid.

Last day of being 14
Today is your last day of being 14 years old. You began 14 as a middle schooler and ended it as a freshman. When I think of this past year I will remember:
~Your love of skateboarding and all the shoes you have worn out
~The size 13 shoes you fit into
~How the orthodontist made your teeth oh so straight and beautiful
~You got to be Daisy the mascot for the robotics team and how you danced yourself silly
~ You wanted to go to High School in San Diego and you knew exactly what train and bus you
need to get there.
~ You have become so independent this year
~Over spring break you decide you L-O-V-E to sleep late
~You learned how to drive the rental car on the camp road
~You love to ride your bike all over town
~ You developed a love of Caesar salad this year and want it every day for lunch and dinner
~You had your first whoopie pie
~You got your first pedicure this year bright red. . .remember don't fall asleep on the couch
~You still love Pokemon
~ You love to hang with your brother

Happy Easter
Today is so cold but it didn't stop me from getting up to go to Ponto Beach for sunrise service. I love going to the beach to hear about the Resurrection of Christ. I have been going with friends for 10 years, it is such a wonderful tradition. Now it is time to get some warm coffee and homemade bread into me.
Hope you all have a wonderful, happy and joy filled day.

Hope
We don't know how long the road is;
We just walk it to the end.
We keep on walking expectantly, heads up, walking in hope.
We do not sit down in protest because our feet are sore;
We do not get sidetracked by
better-traveled roads;
We do not look back.
We are on the right road
and so we walk it
with joyful anticipation
and quiet confidence
and stedfast assurance.
We walk this road in hope,
And we will walk it to the end."

We walk this road in hope,
And we will walk it to the end."

Happiness
I borrowed this from a blog I follow from a women in Maine. The saying is so fitting I had to share it. It reads:
"When I was 5 years old my mother told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I wrote down "happy". They told me I didn't understand the assignment, I told them they didn't understand life."
I love this, I feel great when I am happy and I want others to he happy as well. The world is much better when everyone is happy.
