It's my birthday!

Today was my birthday and I had a great day. I had a messy party in my class the kids had a silly string fight, they did pie in your eye then had a cake eating contest. (eating birthday cake with out using hands or forks) they had a great time. One of students used her invetive spelling and wrote me Hape Brthda (Happy Birthday) on my white board.
This is what I was greated with when I picked up Wyatt from the train today. I have the most thoughtful, sweetest son ever.

Life is short slow down, take time to smell the flowers

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
or listened to the rain slapping the ground?
Have you ever watched a butterflies erratic flight?
or gazed into a sun as it turns into night?
You better slow down,
don't dance so fast.
Time is short
the music won't last.
Do you run through each day
on the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
do you lie in bed
with your next hundred chores
running through your head?
You better slow down
Don't dance to fast.
Time is short
the music won't last.
Ever told your child
we'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste
never seen his tomorrow?
Ever lost touch
let a good friendship die
'cause you never had time
to call and say "Hi".
You better slow down
don't dance so fast
Time is short
the music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
you miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
it's like an unopened gift. . .
thrown away. . .
Life is not a race.
Do it slower.
Hear the music,
before the song is over.

I love this poem I'm not sure who wrote it but with so many deaths in the news this week I thought it was an appropriate poem. We all race so fast through our day, so much to do we all need to be reminded to slow down and enjoy the little things that come our way.

Wyatt's Trip to Catalina Island

The middle school at Wyatt's school went to Catalina for two night, they had a great time. They had buffalo walking through their campsite. The boys tried chasing them towards the girls tent. . .BOYS!

This is a view of the campsite from the top of a hill a few of the boys hiked up. They had a great time. We will miss our class overnights next year in high school.

Look Up

I am not afraid of heights, but this is a very tall order.
I grew up climbing trees and enjoying the thrill of swaying in the wind near the top of a tall tree. One of the important lessons of tree climbing is to keep looking up.
Look down and you are likely to get scared and stop climbing.
Keep looking up and you can continue your ascent.
Keep looking up!
Looking down can be scary and cause you to stop climbing.
but the joy of swaying in the top of the trees awaits you.
Keep looking up.

Busy week

I've had such a busy fun week. April graduated last week after 9 short years of putting herself through college and she had an awesome party. The alcohol was flowing and we had a great time.

Next I got to do the girly thing again and help out backstage for the San Elijo Ballet. It was so much fun. The girls had a great time with my camera drawing on the pictures
Next came the baby shower for Erin & Noah. it is so much fun looking at all the cute baby stuff and my buddy Frankie had a great time as well.
