Self Portrait

Wyatt was playing around and taking pictures of himself, he's pretty darn cute! Notice the long hair? He says he's not cutting until we get back from Maine. . . we'll see.

Words to live by

Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.

Meeting friends

This morning I really needed my soy latte, so Wyatt and I headed to Starbucks. We ran into Deidra and since she is doing a blog about her twice a day (sometimes 3 times) coffee addiction she had her camera with her and a very nice man offered to take our picture. I stole this picture from her blog.

People who do not see their choices do not believe they have choices. They tend to respond automatically, blindly influenced by their circumstances and conditioning. Mindfulness, by helping us notice our impulses before we act, gives us the opportunity to decide whether to act and how to act. --Gil Fronsdal

Cousins dive meet

Jacquline, Wyatt and Liv

Liv won 1st place in the 3 meter spring board

The girls tied for 4th

Yesterday Wyatt and I went to watch his cousins Jacquline and Liv at a local dive meet. They dove the best they had ever dove. It was very exciting, the cousins tied for 4th place. They were so excited that they were cousins and got the same score on the 1 meter spring board. Later on in the day Liv won the 3 meter spring board, it was her first 1st place win ever, she was soooo excited. I was glad I go to be there to share in her win.

A New Favorite Sweatshirt

Wyatt got this ugly sweatshirt for Christmas and absolutely loves it. I think it is really creepy. He can actually see out of those eyes and the entire face thing looks like a Mexican wrestling mask. He loves to freak me out by zipping it all the way up.

Inaguration Day

As we are about to swear in a brand new President I am excited to be watching part of history. No matter how we voted this is a huge part of history and I am excited to be able to witness it. No matter what President Obama does during his term he will forever be know as the first African -American President.

I have been alive for 8 Presidents Wyatt only 2. My first real memory of an American President was when I was about 11 years old and Jimmy Carter came to stay at a house on our street. My Grammie Barden was staying with us and throwing peanuts off the porch at his Limo. It was very exciting. I remember our street was blocked by Secret Service and we had to show proof that we lived on Maple Street. I am sure there was a background check on everyone on our block before he stayed there. It is crazy to think that I was part of that.

I was caught red handed

Yes, I have a new addiction and it is not good. I am totally hooked on Facebook! It is so much fun getting in touch with old high school friends, keeping up with close friends and best of all making new friends. I am totally hooked. Someone needs to send help.

Another Beautiful Sunset

Tonight we were able to see another beautiful sunset. I am amazed that I get to witness this gift from God each night.

New Photo Idea

After seeing this I came up with the idea to do pictures of my little beach town. I love it here and the people are so much fun.

Did I say how handsome he is?

O.K. I am a little behind on my blogging and have pictured to post. My baby is not such a little guy anymore. He is getting so grown up. Our big dilemma right now is where are we going to high school? We have been checking out open house after open house. It is crazy!

My baby is getting tall

A Little Inspiration

My girlfriend Gloria had this on her blog and gave me permission to copy it and paste it, I just love it. Thank you Gloria.

A Little Inspiration
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God;
It never was between you and them anyway.

A Beautiful Day In Southern California

Finally, we had a beautiful weekend here in California, sunny, hot and 80 degrees. I love Santa Ana's, especially when a few days ago there was frost on the ground early in the morning. I got up early this morning and went for a run. The tide was up to high so I couldn't run on the beach. I feel for all my family and friends on the East coast, it is so cold. Bummer for you, you all need to come visit.

Sad Realization

This morning as Wyatt and I were driving to school I realized the we only had a few months of having our mornings in the car together. I love our talks and listening to his iPod and his music. We have driven to school and work together since he was in kindergarten, next year when he goes to high school I will be staying at my school. . .or do I I could follow him as a matter of fact I could follow him all the way through college. No just kidding I love my job and he needs his own thing, I am just going to miss our mornings together.

Back on the Band wagon

Tomorrow I get back on the band wagon. I have had two weeks of eating, drinking and not working out like I should. I am going to get up at 5:00 am and hit the gym.I gave myself a 2 week five pond leeway and stayed within it but now I still want to get those last 25 lbs off. I have given myself until my birthday to do it, I know it will be harder than the first 50. I am super disciplined and can do it!

Welcome 2009!

Well my New Years Eve plans changed and I didn't get to do what I wanted but I still have an awesome time. I got to hang out with my kid and his friend, yes it is cool that they still want to hang out with me and I will enjoy every minute of it, I am sure it won't be long before they decide not to. The evening first started off with a dinner trip to get Fish Tacos, then to the store to stock up on junk food. The kids were racing to see who could be first to do everything in 2009. It was great all the calls and text I recieved wishing me a Happy New Year, I have such amazing friends.
