How I spent my Sunday

I spent the entire day at the San Diego Rock-N-Roll Marathon. My day began at 3:00am, I had spent the night at Gloria's house which gave me an extra 20 minutes of sleep, and yes it even helped her get up and going. We were the taxi service for other members (Uncle Mike) of her team and I dropped them off at the starting line and was on my way to my first mile marker to meet them and distribute all the goo and gel packets, oranges and cytomax and other energy drinks.

The Rock-N-Roll has so many crazy dressed runners, many many Elvis', a Forrest Gump, a Polynesian dancer and many other characters. (most of which were to fast for me capture on my camera since I was focused on my job).

Here is the only picture of Uncle Mike running his first marathon ever. Yup he had put new insoles in his old sneakers and decided he didn't like them so he gave me the gross, sweaty insoles, which I happily took and put in my back pack.

Dora and Patrick were with me the entire race, then after leaving the race Dora broke off and decided to become a tree hugger. Go Dora!

Steer Wrestling

Tonight I took Deidra to her first rodeo. It was soooo cold, but we had a few good laughs. When the steer wrestling began we were trying to figure out who would go out and wrestle a cow and decide it was a sport. With out two brains we figures out that it had to have involved a lot a lot of alcohol. We figured that a few guys (cowboys of course) were sitting around drinking a cold one and bragging that they could talk down a steer faster. I would have loved to see the first time that happened.

This was the One Armed Cowboy with two American Buffalo. They were so cool. Since it was so cold we could see their breath as well.

Shhhhh can you keep a secret?

OK, so can you keep a secret?

I went to the Del Mar Fairgrounds and I kind of got lost dropping off kids artwork and guess what I saw. . . the new fried fair food. and drum roll. . . . . . . it is. . . . . fried POP TARTS! Do you think they give you a choice of flavors? Do you think they fry them in the same oil as the fried frog legs? What about vegans who want fried avocado? Is that fried with the fried frog legs? At this one cart called totally fried they sell fried Krispie Kreme, fried Smores, fried zucchini weeni, of course the fried frog legs, fried avocado, fried vegi combo, fried Twinkies with chocolate or strawberry sauce, fried oreos and . . . . fried POP TARTS. Does anyone want to go get a heart attack on a stick? Location of TOTALLY FRIED is right at the end of the 4 H animal building. Enjoy!

Tonight we went to dinner with some friends and their babies. When we got back to our house my girlfriend was telling me what a great help Wyatt was and of course my pride was flowing over. He is 14 years old and at this point in his life he should have learned how to behave and the difference from right and wrong. It is such a nice thing to hear. As a parent we always worry did I do a good job raising my child? Am I a good parent? As I have always said to myself "I do the best job I can do at this time with what I know." No, I am not perfect as a human or a parent, I just do the best I can and hope and with a lot of prayer that what I have done was right.
The following song by Ryan Shupe has always been a song that I would play for Wyatt when it first came out, It is a wish for him as he grows and becomes an adult.
When you cry, be sure to dry your eyes,
'Cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile, be sure to smile wide,
And don't let them know that they have won.
And when you walk, walk with pride,
And don't show the hurt inside,
Because the pain will soon be gone.
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean, blue.'
Cause when you dream it might come true.
But when you dream, dream big.
And when you laugh, be sure to laugh out loud,
'Cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all around and in yourself,
And it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to help to carry on,
But when the troubles come your way.
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean, blue.
'Cause when you dream it might come true.
But when you dream, dream big.
When you cry be sure to dry your eyes, cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide, and don't let them know that they have one.
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
'Cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to help to carry on when the troubles come your way.

Always Remember

Tomorrow is the day to remember those who have died in battle for this country. For the soldiers and their families, thank you. Your sacrifice has allowed me and my family to experience all the wonderful freedom and joy we have in America. We have two days a year dedicated to our soldiers, Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Each and everyone of us should think about those soldiers everyday, its because of them we have the ability to have our freedom. Thank you to my family and friends and the unknown service people. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Cutest Babies since. . .

My son.
Wyatt (aka Moose) at 2 months
Today I went to Balboa Park with my good friends and their adorable children. I felt like I was out with rock stars everywhere we go people would stop and comment in amazement at them. Even the grumpiest people would stop and smile at them, it is amazing how small kids and infants just have that effect on people. Every parent is proud of their children and each one thinks their child has "that " special quality. Really each and every child does. They all have that, they haven't been tainted by life, society or even their parents. They ALL are soooo cute and they ALL put a smile on strangers faces and people do stop and comment, how can you not stop and comment on an adorable, sweet smelling baby.

Katelyn (aka K3) Kristen's beautiful baby

Franklin (aka Frank the Tank) Ali's "Little Bird"

Kai (aka I'm in my 2's) Stephanie's sweet and funny man.

Afternoon of Bowling

This afternoon Wyatt and I went bowling with Gloria and her kids, we had a great time I was loosing until my last turn (being beaten by 2 6 year olds, a 8 year old and my 14 year old and yes, even Gloria). I did pull it out and ended up in third behind 1st place 6 year old and 2nd the 8 year old. I did however beat my son, so I was pleased. He didn't care.
He wore his "Mexican" shirt in honor of Gloria's people.

Happy Birthday Gloria

Today is my good friend Gloria's birthday. She has such a dynamic personality and is always up and happy even if inside she isn't. Gloria is carefree and loves life she doesn't let anything hold her back. I hope Gloria your next year is a good one for you and you get everything you want, I am glad I am able to call you friend.

Your friendship is special

Like the flowers that bloom,

Or when a butterfly emerges

From within its cocoon...

You remind me of that butterfly,

Loving and free,

Bright and colorful,

For the world to see...

We will share sunshine and rainbows;

Sometimes, the rain and the snow;

We'll stand together through it,

While the cold winds blow...

When the time is right,

We won't stop to ask "Why?"

Our friendship will take flight

On the wings of a butterfly ...

Wyatt's trip to Target

Today the marine layer had set in and is very depressing. Wyatt asked if I'd take him to Target so I surprised him and drove down to the two story Target. He loved it, this was his first time there. The sun was shining and it was warm I could have stayed there all day.

After our trip to Target I decided to take Wyatt out to lunch and continue enjoying the beautiful sunny day inland.

07. Believe in love at first sight.
08. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

School Fundraiser

Last night Wyatt's school had a poetry reading and book buying fundraiser. Here is Wyatt outside the book store with a few of his friends and fans. The school raised funds to help off set the cost of an upcoming overnight to Catalina.

Girls Night Out

We went out to Las Olas tonight, of course they changed the restaurant and didn't tell a few of us and I was late. YES i hate being late! I was sweating as I was driving from the Las Olas in Carlsbad to the one in Cardiff. We had a great meal and good conversation and a little bit of adult beverages.

Wyatt at the skate park

Wyatt went to the skate park this weekend and had a great time. Now that he has a pass I am sure that he will be going often.
