Hail Monday 3/21

Yes that is real hail covering the field Monday morning. It is so strange to see white stuff covering anything here in So Cal but it does occassionally happen.

Its the simple signs

You know how it is the days are longer, the sun shines later into the evening. . . you know all the signs, SPRING is on its way!!

Yesterday it rained and rained as a matter of fact it was so cold that we had hail in Solana Beach, so much that it covered the football field and it looked like snow. I felt bad my students were so excited about coming back to school and getting out to the playground and then it was cold and very wet so we were caught inside, I felt like a character out of the Dr. Seuss book The Cat in The Hat. We kept looking to see when we would be able to go outside. . .you know, we sat there, we sat there with nothing to do! It was that kind of day, and of course I was so excited to get to school I didn't even get coffee.

Today was a lovely change, it was sunny and sort of windy and cold, it was a very spring like day. the type of day you want to go fly a kite and look for all the signs of spring. I don't have to look very far spring is everywhere around me, even at my school. I love these beautiful wild flowers that are growing. Do you have signs of spring yet?

I was so excited about last nights super moon. I had my tripod ready and was waiting for the evening to arrive. Guess what happened? I took my equipment outside and the clouds were so thick and heavy that I could barely see an actual moon, mostly a faint glow. I was so disappointed.
This picture was of the moon Friday night, because Jeanne and I were excited about it.

Mindy Gledhill - Whole Wide World

I think every girl feels this way.

It's not how much you accomplish in life that really counts,
but how much you give to others.
It's not how high you build your dreams that make a difference,
but how high your faith can climb.
It's not how many goals you reach,
but how many lives you touch.
It's not who you know that matters,
but who you are inside.
Believe in the impossible,
hold tight to the incredible,
and live each day to its fullest potential.
You can make a difference in your world.

They Did IT!!!

This weekend Wyatt's robotics team competed in the San Diego Regional Championships it was a very busy 3 days for all of us. The team was eliminated in the quarter finals and thought their dreams of going to the World Championships in Saint Louis were over. The very last award of the evening which is the most prestigious award was given to us and guaranteed us a spot in the Worlds. I was so happy for these kids, i saw how much each of them put into this award submission and so see them win it again for the third year in a row brought me tears of happiness.
I was able to get some great pictures of Wyatt during the matches but they are on my camera and I gave my memory card to David's wife so she can make a photo mosaic to post on The Holy Cows Face book page, then print off to take with us to San Jose. I will post my pictures when I get my card back.

Happy Ending to my L O N G day.

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but triffles; to be sure, but, to be scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.

I spent the last 10 hours at Wyatt's school tonight helping them get ready for the San Diego Regional tomorrow. I was kind of tired tonight when I got home but as soon as I saw the package on the table I got a new burst of excitement, I knew right what it was in that box!
YUP, it was my book. . . the book I ordered from the last 3 years of my blog. I was so excited when I started looking at it, it is an awesome way to preserve family memories. I am so glad I forced myself to sit down and order it.
As I mentioned tomorrow is a big day, the first day at the first competition of the season. This will beam kids unpacking the robot, getting it inspected and practicing. . . the most boring day to me of the competitions. I'll keep you up dated as the weekend goes on.

I'm still here

With San Diego Regional coming up I have been busy with parent meetings and helping out the kids on the robotics team. The kids in the mascot costume are a little bit short this year so I had to hem Daisy's legs, I am helping a mom plan and organize lunches, plan the judges bags and I just uploaded all this years events pictures back onto y computer so I could create 3 photo books (one with individual team photos, one of FIRST events we have held, and another one of all the community outreach that the kids have been too). Good thing I have the next two weeks of because I am already scheduled for every day, including some fun time for myself. I did manage to go to Little Italy last night for a few hours of Carnvale. It was super fun and we saw lots of interesting and beautiful costumes, I even got a mask from a lady selling them on the street.
